Star Wars: Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Original Movie ‘A New Hope’. Well, not really in a galaxy far far away, Star Wars was born. On May 25, 1977, Star Wars, later retitled as Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, was released by LucasFilms Ltd. Unknown at the time, this movie would spark an enormous movie “empire”. May 25, 2017 - For Star Wars fans, May 25th is kind of a big deal. It marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the first “Star Wars” film, “A New Hope.” In 1977.
Lucasfilm and Joe Books celebrate the fortieth anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope with a deluxe edition cinestory comic adaptation of the film that changed the universe.
“When Star Wars: A New Hope premiered in theaters forty years ago, it launched enduring stories and characters that continue to resonate with children and adults alike,” says Joe Books president Steve Osgoode. “We could not be more excited to be celebrating such a milestone with this unique publishing opportunity that allows fans to explore the film that started it all in a brand-new format.”
In addition to Star Wars: A New Hope Cinestory Comic, which will be in stores in September 2017, Joe Books is also releasing cinestory comic adaptations of the fan favourite animated TV show Star Wars Rebels, which include:
